Morton

The Morton Communications Center is operated and staffed by the Morton Police Department. The communications center, as well as the Morton Police Department moved to a new, state of the art facility, in 2004.

The Morton Comminications Center is operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. It is staffed by 9 full and part time telecommunicators. All telecommunicators are trained in emergency medical dispatch.

There are 2 primary answering positions at Morton and room to add 2 additional answering positions should the need arise. Each answering position is configured the same and is equipped with a Zetron Intergrator RD radio dispatch console, Zetron Series 3200 telephone console and Sungard/HTE computer aided dispatch system. There are a total of 6 dedicated 9-1-1 trunks, 3 for wireline 9-1-1 calls and 3 for wireless 9-1-1 calls.

In 2010, Morton handled 4,635 emergency 9-1-1 calls. Of those calls, 2,677 were wireless 9-1-1 calls and 1,958 were wireline 9-1-1 calls.
