The Washington Communications Center is operated and staffed by the Washington Police Department. The communications center was completely remodeled in 2005, replacing old, antiquated equipment with new, state of the art equipment.
The Washington Comminications Center is operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. It is staffed by 8 full and part time telecommunicators. All telecommunicators are trained in emergency medical dispatch.
There are 2 primary answering positions at Washington and 1 backup answering position. Each answering position is configured the same and is equipped with a Zetron Intergrator RD radio dispatch console, Zetron Series 3200 telephone console and Sungard/HTE computer aided dispatch system. There are a total of 6 dedicated 9-1-1 trunks, 3 for wireline 9-1-1 calls and 3 for wireless 9-1-1 calls.
In 2010, Washington handled 3,702 emergency 9-1-1 calls. Of those calls, 2,530 were wireless 9-1-1 calls and 1,172 were wireline 9-1-1 calls.
